Are these things cracking???

It's the worst on the exhaust valve retainers, especially the 1st and 3rd cylinders...this is a nitrous car with stock rockers/valvetrain

I'm no expert but I thought valve retainers were 2 halves that were put together with the valve spring compressed. When uncompressed they are held together by the tension & grove in the top of the valve.

Every one of them are in exact halves, right? None of them in thirds or other sizes than half.

They are too symmetrical. Pretty easy to tell though, use a magnifying glass and see if they are a groove from some type of tooling or an actual stress crack.

My only guess is maybe there is too much valve lash and the rockers start beating up things. The exhaust side builds up the most heat. Maybe its time to upgrade to some new roller rockers with that nitrous?

I'm sure someone on here would know for sure.
