I don't know if anyone has been in this same predicament but it's worth a shot to post. I am looking at the Park 7000 lift for my garage, but I keep running into a snag. I have had four garage companies come out and they can't help me find a way to put the lift in my garage with the garage door opening. The problem seems to be the following: I have a three car garage and the doors are seven feet, I have enough height in the garage, but my roof is on a pitch. The ones that can do something said I need a side mount motor, but are not willing to install because of the liabilities (new government liabilities do to safety standards. The Lift will fit fine and I have enough room side to side, the problem is the door opens to low, I know they make the track to open at a pitch (service stations have them and some rescue squads) I also know I can put a roll up door, but the wife is totally against this idea. So if someone has any solutions I would greatly appreciate your help. My goal is to put a lift that I can park another vehicle under and be able to get another car beside it. I will use it some for maintenance. Thanks

I've got the same situation. You need to abandon the auto door opener for that door. Then you need to use a torsion bar type spring assy rather than the usual "long spring" type counter balance. works great. I have the Back yard buddy lift, Much more durable. 9 years, several race cars, few restorations, brake fluid, paint etc. REMEMBER it is a tool. forget about powder coating far too slipery when wet.

Good luck.

Steve,

Where did you get the Back yard Buddy. Are you saying that it is a better product than Perfect Park 7000. Also does it come with a lift for taking tires off, oil drip pans. What is the cost of this unit and can I store another vehicle underneath. I did find a company to install a side mount motor, as long as I sign off that I am not liable.e your feedback.

Thanks.

Backyard buddy advertises in many of the Car magazines. (always in Hemmings). Many of the lifts have runners (the part the wheels sit on) made of bent metal molded to shape. The backyard buddy has heavy guage angle steel with a plate welded to the top.(much stronger). There are prettier lifts but you wont find one any more heavy duty. I have a rolling jack platform (forget the "sliding type"), galvanized steel drip pans, and an "air jack" that will pick up either end of the car for wheel detailing and brake work. I park my Viper on the bottom and my 'cuda on top or the other way arround. No problem picking up my Durrango.

Don't forget once you buy the lift there are all finds of other accessories to spend money on: Transmission jack, adjustable stands for exhaust work, telescopic oil drain container, compressor w/air tools,etc...

plus all the friends you'll make wanting to change their oil at your house!!!

Have fun!

OOps I forgot. If you want to take a ride to Delaware, you are welcome to take a look.

PS. Bring oil if you want to, we can change yours while you are here.

I can't help you with your problem but I am having my life installed this morning. hahaha What a coincidence. My ceilings are 14 foot so I don't have the problem that you face. Good luck with the project.
