RT, sorry you had a bad experience. This just goes to prove that all dealers are not the same. Most dealers don't know what the heck they're doing when it comes to these cars and customer service. It is true that the service contract may not be active for thirty days. The reason for this is that CSC doesn't want to sell contracts to vehicles with exsisting problems. Let me explain it this way. John Q. Public takes his Viper into Hometown USA motors complaing that the car won't go into gear. Tech checks it out and says it needs a $5,000 trans. Customer goes and buys contract in finance dept. for $1,500 and gets his trans replaced the next day. That's what they are trying to avoid. Also, are you the 2nd or 3rd owner? I don't think it's transferrable to the third owner. I don't think it applies in the State of Florida.
As for the heater control repair, it's probably best to go to another dealer. I'm not sure of the law in your state, but in Cali, we can't do the work without prior authorization. At the time of write up you should have signed a repair order with a preliminary est. on it. This means they can't charge you any more then that est. without your autho...period. If you didn't autho the time (dollar amount) to take the dash apart then you shouldn't have to pay it. They can't "do" the work and then tell you what the cost is, it's the other way around. Est. given to customer and then work gets performed. I read these posts and become frustrated because of the way people like you get treated from inexperienced techs. If there is anything else I can answer, call me at the shop. dj
