This is what the inside of my "new" muffler looks like:

When the skin is on, it looks like the standard muffer... Why? Just to keep the stock look and NOT have any California Emission "issues" (they question ANY modification).

JDR,

Why don't you put a SS cover on it and start manufacturing them. I'll bet lots of California drivers would like one.

(Hey, it's Winter... the underside stays dirty 'till spring)

I must say, the (hidden) x-over makes a GREAT sound!

The "project" took a bit longer than expected:
Parts: $90 (Used Viper muffler from e-Bay, I wasn't going to attempt this on MY muffler!)
Time to cut, TIG, and install the crossover: 4 hours (I'm slow)
Time to TIG the stainless steal skin back on: hours (I'm REAL slow filling in gaps in sheet metal).
The sound: Priceless.

I like it ! Looks great ! I did the resonator and muffler delete, with an
x-pipe, but had not covered it. Good idea.

have 3 1/2" rolled ss tips also.

cut out resonator, replace with straight pipe - $15, 2 hours.
cut off muffler, replace with $25 x-pipe - 1 hour
local shop - weld, replace straight pipe with much better ss pipe, $75.

MUCH deeper sound.
