just found 2 wires, one on each side of hood leading into firewall near wiper channel; the driver side wire is broken. What are they?

They are radio shielding wires. The entire hood pad has a layer of aluminum foil in it that is used to suppress electronic noise from the engine bay that those wires connect to. One of mine is starting to go as well but hasn't fully broken yet. Been thinking about how I want to fix it one of these days.
