How many of you have done a header upgrade? Do you recommend it on 01\' Viper RT?

Hello from Iowa;

I am strongly considering adding Belanger (or other) headers to my 01 RT/10.

I have installed the Mopar "street exhaust" and I really enjoy the improved sound! I am concerned about adding headers, not from a price concern, but from a "what can I screw up or melt" concern.

Should I do the headers? What else do I need to add to insure reliability and no fried parts? I really want your honest opinions. Any real problems out there, or is the header addition just a "must do" mod if you can afford it?

I am more concerned about what can go wrong or be damaged. Please give me some real honest feedback here folks, I trust your experience!

Sincerely,

Jim Wallace

I installed to the Belanger headers and exhaust on my '01, and picked up quite a bit of midrange and a bit of top-end. It's an excellent upgrade. I'd recommend switching to high-flow cats and the MOPAR ECU at the same time; you'll probably get a check engine light if you don't upgrade the ECU when you install the headers, and the high-flow cats are a natural complement to the exhaust system.

Ditto what Ben said. I have Belangers+Borlacats+ECU. The Viper Tech I use won't install anything but Belangers or SVS headers. He preferred the Belangers due to ease of install.

Not too much you can screw up when installing the Ballangers. Simple installation and no real danger of melting anything. They are a well made header.

I just installed Belanger Headers which I purchased from Tom Welsh at BTR Performance. The quality, fit and finish of this system are just spectacular and while I'm yet to obtain dyno or drag strip numbers, it's obvious that the car is much quicker than stock. The install was an absolute breeze.

Lou Belanger is a great guy who answered every one of my calls (and there were plenty). Tom Welsh was likewise very helpful technically and executed the sale cleanly. I could not be happier with my decision to purchase Belanger Headers from BTR. I am really impressed with the entire system (headers and cat back). As far as cats are concerned, that is a personal with +'s and -'s either way. Want performance and cool side sills and cooler interior? Lose the cats! Into the environment, don't like the odor or added noise level, add high flow cats or open the stock cats up to 3".

Good luck ......
