Idles High and Needle Stickin

since last week my car has been sticking at 3000rpms. i checked the throttle bodies and the cable and everything seems ok. i took the battery cable off and let it sit for 10 mins. attached the battery and it bogged as it started up and then idles fine. took her out for a test spin and this time was stuck at 2000rpms. let her sit for few mins and strted her up again. this time th idle was at 500. i turned the A/C on and it started to to idle anywhere from 1000rpms to 500 as it was going to stall. any ideas?

I used the AC for the first time this weekend. I too noticed that the idle was much higher until I got the car completely stopped. Then it went down to the normal 500. I assumed it was ECU raising the idle when the AC was on.

Have you cleaned the throtle bodies at all? Maybe check the air idle motor, too.
The TBs get dirty/oily and the air idle motor gets carbon/sooty build up.
I've not had the high idle, but have had it near stalling, cleaning both these items cleared it right up.
Another possibility could be a TPS, but typicaly those just 'go'.
Any codes stored?
Bad PCV valve,
vacuum leak,
PCV hoses full of oil.

checked the TB. no oil just a lil carbon. no codes.

All fixed! A vent hose was hanging the throttle open.
