I don't want to install a line lock if it will negatively affect braking or braking components.
Anyone know if this is a problem? I want to do some drag racing with my car, but need to maintain optimal braking performance for road course events. The instructions on the Hurst line lock state that it should not be used on ABS-equipped vehicles, however their website provides no further information.

I have seen line lock on numerous ABS car. However, it was no the Hurst unit.

Call Macedo, I know he has done ABS cars.

Hurst is fine on ABS cars. The ABS system does not activate unless the pedal is being pressed. the most you will get is the "ABS" malfunction light, which will go off once you start driving the car.

Simms: Thanks. Macedo was helpful, and kindly provided a couple tips.

Final GTS: Thank you. Do you install between the master cylinder and the ABS, or after the ABS unit?

between the master and ABS Actuator. The actuator does nothing unless the pedal is being pressed. Install it on the front brakes so you can lock the line, pump it up, and they will remain locked while your foot has ben removed from the pedal.

Daniel, thanks again, I'll get this installed now. The strip at Gateway International Raceway closed last weekend, so it will be a few months before I can try it out.

VIPR GTS ,

Don't know if I was speaking with Larry Macedo, or another employee.

1) They have installed line locks on ABS cars without problems

2) They were aware of the Hurst "NOT FOR USE ON ABS SYSTEMS" statement

3) Instead, they use Biondo line locks, which I can purchase from Summit or Jegs

4) No need to worry about the ABS light, it turns off by itself (as mentioned above by Daniel Lesser)

I will install my Hurst unit without hesitation. Hope that helps,

Dmitry,
Thanks for the pic. This looks the same as my Hurst. My mechanic and I were looking at this area on the Viper earlier tonight, trying to figure out how to install the line lock (from above or through the wheel well). He will probably do this for me when he does my Quaiffe and clutch.
