Is my car running rich...????

Well on the way back from Tony's Saturday, I noticed in my mirror that there seemed to be smoke coming from the exhaust under strong acceleration in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear. No smoke noticed when cruising.

After getting home I noticed there was black unburned fuel "soot" on the rear bumper, at a lot on the right tailpipe (right side rich?) The exhaust also popped in 4th gear a lot at 1500 RPM, didn't pop at the other RPM levels. You can see where I ran my finger over the bumper and picked up the soot.

The car never did this with the stock exhaust... it has B&B 1 3/4, RT High Flows, and Borla catback. No other mods have been done. Is this cause for alarm?

How many miles since your exhaust mods? Did you reset the PCM during that down time?

maybe 30 miles? I didn't do the install, used a reputable dealer. How do I reset the PCM?

unplug it for about 20-30 minutes.

I to have this problem on my 2000acr. Lots of black smoke when I am on the pipe. I have also recently installed a set of high flow cats and a cosra system? Maybe its a black and silver problem as I have the exact same paint as Jpa99 Acr..

Adding free flowing exhaust leans the engine fuel/air mixture. WOT uses tables to adjust f/a mixture, not the 02 sensors.

I'd suggest getting a hp reflash. Roe Racing Performance Parts sells the tool to do this.

Not only does the reflash, it also adds as much as 50rwhp by optimizing the ECU settings.
