Greetings. First post here at the Viperclub. Have been reading the board here for a couple of months in preparation for buying my Viper. Never owned one before or anything, but I love the way they look and have fallen in love with them.

Anyway, my wife and I test drove one today and have put an offer in on it. 1994 Yellow RT/10, 4800 miles, soft top included, clean exterior ( a couple of paint blisters on the passenger side sill, not too bad ). No mods, completely stock Viper. Had one previous owner ( traded in this one for an 04 SRT, apparently ). Was asking $40k, but now is at $37,800. Based on what I've read and the fact that he's local to me so I won't have to have it delivered, etc, I'm thinking this is a pretty decent deal. Of course, I'm no expert, so I thought I'd try to get thoughts from people whose opinions I value.

Thoughts?

Thanks...

Sounds like a fair price considering only 4800 miles. If car is in excellent condition both body and mechanically. You're probably looking at a head gasket change out to the new ones as Chuck Tator will explain to you. Have a viper tech look at car and get vin #.Speak to someone like Chuck Tator of tators dodge. Give him vin # and hell search cars history for you in depth..Good luck and welcome to the viper community..

Check the history, and having it inspected are good ideas. Also, how are the tires, original? If so they will be like ROCKS and need to be replaced. Side sill blisters are very common for that car. Soft top and hard top?
If all is well, then at $37k the price is fair. At $35k you are doing very well!
Good luck!

Pretty sure they are original tires. No hard top included. Car is clean according to carfax ( for whatever that's worth ). According to the seller ( VP of the Dodge Dealership ), he's friends with the previous owner and it's never been in an accident, seen rain, blah, blah, blah. He also said that the only warranty work that's been done on the car was tightening the oil pan. Other than a new battery and oil change/lube, no other work done on the car. I'd love to have a viper tech look at it, but there aren't many around here ( SE Wisconsin ). According to the sales guy, the only certified viper technician in SE Wisconsin is the guy at his dealership. Not sure how much stock to put into that claim. Gotta love sales guys!!!

Damn it is a sweet ride.....Nothing like tooling around Wisconsin the day after xmas in a yellow convertible. Luckily, it was about 45 degrees out. Coulda been worse....much worse....

Well, I bought it today. Just got it home. Final price $37,500. Might have been able to get him a little lower but I pretty much decided that I'd haggled all I could ( not to mention I'm no good at it ). I talked to Chuck Tator this morning and he gave me some more things to look at. Everything checked out so I decided to do the deal.

Damn, it's a sweet ride!!! Had the soft top on for the ride home and it did get a little loud in the cockpit, but not too bad. In case I decide to pursue it, any ideas on how to quiet her down a bit? Right now it's got stock everything....

Thanks everybody for your opinions. I'll post pics as soon as I can.

Do yourself a favor if you are going to use the car and buy a hard top and windows from Viper-Mania Biff will take care of you and and this will quieten down the cockpit noise.
Congrats Chad
