I've got way too much time on my hands...

In the law and the Universal commercial code, FOB means Free On Board. Has to do with shipping. That's the only FOB I know!

Sounds like a vernacular derivative of fumble, as to fumble around looking for something in your pocket. (No jokes, please!)

So a "fob" would be a larger attachment to help you locate something smaller, like a key, as you reach into a pocket or purse.

This is bs, but it is very good bs.

Yes, I also have too much time on my hands tonight!

I don't get it.....

You mean, "freight on board"? Where the shipper has responsibility for the freight on board until it reaches its destination?

How about

Freakin Obtuse Baloney

....if I ever get my hands on the ***** who invented the key FOB ... whyI'll... I'll ...I'll

I like to carry all my car keys on one chain. HAHAHA. It's like all the remotes in my living room

UGH!

And then there was the "keyless" entry, i.e., the keypad entry.

This was AWESOME! You could open your locked car w/o the keys, the trunk too!

Suppose you're working around the house and need to get into your car!

Suppose you go to the beach!

Suppose you keep your house keys in your car for when you get locked out!!!

The keypad had SO MANY advantages, the FOB, few. It is mostly a novelty! Beads and Trinkets for the Natives.
