If fitting a lighter-weight aluminum flywheel...
1) Does the crank need re-balancing?
2) Would the lower center weight cause less momentum, and lose a few mph top end?

don't need to rebalance the crank, but good to balance the flywheel and pressure plate and then balance them as a unit.

The Heavier the flywheel the more energy it takes to turn. The heavier a flywheel the more it will resist change in speed, either faster or slower, than a lighter one.

Thanks Marv,

Although it will rev freer, once actually spinning and say at max sustained RPM, would the momentum of a heavier one give that little bit more in MPH? (Like a greater centrifugal force and aid spinning??)
