Wow...that's sad. Have the wheels been dangling like that since 1998??? Why don't you take it off his hands and bring it back to life?

He ought to have it taken away from him just out of the sheer neglect. In fact, I'm on my way. 60k? The drugs taken must be fabulous!

Just so he knows, with his attitude, it will be sitting for another 10-20 years and when his wife is forced to sell it, it will only fetch about $10K...........................

Not even a cheap car cover? Why the jack stands? To properly prepare and store a car is one thing but this is something to be ashamed of.

Maybe he couldn't figure out how to close the hood and gave up on it? :dunno: There is one heck of a gap there if that hood is down on the way.

With some TLC and new wheel he could get upper 40's for it. I had a member recently sell his low mile 96 b/w for 52k.

uhhhh - something doesnt jive with this story!

If you had the $$ to drop on such a beautiful exotic machine (especially at that time), why wouldnt you drive it?

Unless...

1. you bought it as an investment

OR

2. you were too busy driving your other exotics

either scenario - why is it stored in that sh*thole!?

also - is the passenger window slightly open? Means that dust is in is every nook and cranny of the interior as well. and if the rims are pitted from moisture - there is unseen oxidation throughout (including interals)! Not to mention that if it has sat idle for over 10 years, what has that done to every seal, bushings, u-joints etc?

Jim

ps - what a shame. This is the year/color/mileage range car I am looking for. Tell him I'll go $25K...

yep the hood is open, both windows are down a little and the back window is open also. The car is in a back storage garage at his john Deere dealership. He also has a 1993 red rt/10 with 7,800 miles on it. That car hasn't been touched since I took it to prom in 2002. I haven't seen the car so I have no idea what it's condition is but it's at his house in the garage.

Thats a sad sight, Your friend must be really confused and unaware of how to treat and store such a prize. :(
Show your friend these pics of a close brother to his Viper and maybe he will take the time to give that car some badly needed TLC. If not, Tell him I'll trade him straight up and all he'll have to do then is hop in and drive. :drive:

Tell your buddy to get it off jackstands, wash/wax it, get some tires, fluids changed and enjoy the car!! Cause A. he'll never get what he wants for it, and B. whats the point of having a pair of vipers you never get to enjoy.

My crystal ball tells me it would be worth a good bit in 20years. But in thase storage conditions will take a small fortune to make it right again.

If he bought it new he paid about $70,000 for it give or take a few grand. By now 70K would be around 140K safely invested. 280K in ten more years. 560K in 20 years. I dunno, it's possible I guess.
