Anybody have info on the Steppenwolf "Magic Carpet Ride remix" used on the Viper DVD? I heard it on the TV in the other room and dropped everything and ran in hoping to see the Viper commercial but instead I got some lame "Sketchers" (sneakers) spot with the same song. I guess DC's agency didn't produce it and didn't get the exclusive rights either???

MCR is a 70's tune by the German band Steppenwolf. I doubt DC has any rights beyond its use for the commercial. Others are free to secure similar rights if they so desire.

Steppenwolf was not a German band, but John Kay was born in Germany and lived there as a young kid. He has quite an interesting life story.

I heard on the local radio that Steppenwolf was going to play some native american casino in the Seattle area. I guess that is what you do when you can't book Vegas. A group with a darn smart attorney- they negotiated a great (for them) contract with DCX for that Viper ad track.

April Wine was very big in the middle of Wisconsin were I grew up Steve. Required listening at most parties I attended in the late 70's. Thanks for some good times....

Hey Steve, I meant to ask you this in St. Louis, but are you still playing? Commercially, I mean? And I think lots of your fans here (including me) would like to know a short "Behind The Music" on April Wine -- you know, a "where are they now, what are they doing, will they ever play together again" kind of thing.

Curiously,

I'm a better investigator than this ...

for all there may be to know about April Wine.

Steve, as much as I like the MCR remix, "I Like To Rock" may be the best driving song of all time. I know that, originally, it pre-dated your time with the band, but I'm guessing you can play it.

best!

Well people...Who is it??? Crystal Method or Fat Boy Slim?. If I had to guess I would go with Crystal because I think I would have heard it more if it was Fatboy. How about emailing me the mp3 or a URL where I could listen to it???..so I can go out and buy some crappy Sketchers instead of a new R/T!
