Hi guys..I got a question for ya. I just replaced my power steering pump and high pressure line. I sprayed some carb cleaner down on the rack area to clean up the oil mess. Then I filled up the power steering reservoir…I left the air box off and fired up the car to see if I had leaks. That’s when the service engine soon light didn’t shut off. I turned the car off and restarted it and it stayed on. All was good with the pump so I put the air box back on and started the car again. Service engine soon light was still on. Is it on because I started it with the air box out?..will it go out in time? Everything is plugged in. It’s a 1997 GTS with 16K miles. Thanks for responses.

I went to Advance Auto and got a scan tool…it was the air box temp sensor. I cleared it and all is good now. Note to self..Don’t start the car with the air box out.

I handle this same situation 2 different ways, either just clear the code or I also have a spare air temp spacer to plug in the harness to run without the air box.

Just like Dan indicated. You unplugged the air temp sensor when the airbox was removed. It made the light come on. After a few starts
it will go off.
