MGW shifter with stock shaft and know

Changed out the shifter to the MGW. I still want to use the same KNOB from the factory. I just want a lower shaft. I took off the cap on top of the knob and there seems to be a "blob of plastic" leveled out. Any other suggestions?

Have you taken a look from the bottom of the shaft? Looking with a flashlight down the threaded hole, there looks like an allen bolt head down there... I'm not sure though, as it's really hard to tell. You'd need a long allen wrench to reach down there if it is.

Yes looked under the shaft. NO can do.

Cut off from the bottom then and re mill the hole and thread. A lot of work though I would just get the MGW knob and save the work unless you have the equipment and like the challenge.
