I'm planning on adding the MSD Fuel Pump Voltage Booster. Any tips or tricks ?
Thanks
Thanks
Am I correct in saying the MSD needs to be near the engine because the boost port is on the MSD box ?
If so, you take 12+/- volts near the engine and raise the voltage and then you have a long wire to the fuel pump. With the KB, you have the boost sensor mounted at the engine with a signal wire to the box....then the booster box is located near the pump (near the battery...good voltage)with a "short" wire to the pump.
Also, And I'm not "exactly" clear on this....how does the MSD raise voltage ? Based on boost reference 5 psi to 30 psi. What happens if you only have 8 psi ? How much is the voltage increase.
The KB can do it's max increase when you get to 3 psi. I haven't measured the voltage increase, maybe I should check it one day.
Just food for thought.
Simms what are you #'s you have what I'm after.

Will a MSD work on a N/A setup?
Will a MSD work on a N/A setup?
Will a MSD work on a N/A setup?
it raised my fuel pressure by less than 1 psi on my N/A heads/cam car.
I would not have spent the money or time if I had known that prior.

Ok, I'll bite.....how in the world can a fuel pump raise voltage??
Do you meen volume?

MSD raises the voltage to the pump, in turn the pump puts out more volume.

I thought they only raise voltage, not pressure?

by raising the voltage to the pump and spinning it harder it is supposed to sustain the pressure if one is seeing a pressure drop. Above 5200rpms my fuel psi was fading a little (which most due I suppose), but since I was already at the limits of the pump and I wanted to support it in anyway I could. Adding the MSD keep the psi up 1 psi more at those higher rpms as indicated by my fuel pressure gauge. volume should also be increased in relationship to increasing presure, but I have no way to monitor that.

what are you using to trigger the MSD to initiate the voltage increase. My understanding is that without boost it operates at stock spec's.
is this required on a 5lb boost pulley on ROE SC???

No.

No.
when would i need it then? say 8lbs or higher? what would happen if I DID install it?
