Muffler choices for 3\" Exhaust...

I have a GT-1 Racecar with belanger headers that mate up to 3" pipe, which then side exit in front of the rear wheel well. The car is fricken loud. I need to find some borlas or ??? to weld in-line in the sill to quiet her down. Any suggestions? Anyone with mufflers lying around that match up to 3 inch pipe?

Passing the sound station at 103 decibels gets old after awhile.

Hey Roadkill, was this 3inch muffler at the connectors, or the muffler 3 inches with connectors 2.5" or something smaller? I dont want to choke the exhaustflow.

Maybe I'll get off my ass and look for magnaflow on the net...

Any other choices? Did you compare aginst any other product?

Bugeater, 3 inches at the connectors, and 3" inside diameter. I believe dynomax makes a bullet muffler also that is similar. I looked at the dynomax, spintech, plain old glasspacks, and borla before deciding to go with the magnaflow. I like the Magnaflow because it is relatively quiet at the lower rpm's and i don't notice drone from them.

I used the Borla XR1 with 3" in and out and 3" id, it is straight through but has an egg shaped tube that is perforated and welded into the lenght of the ID of the tube. Increases the surface area for sound dissapation. It is the one I believe Sean Roe uses, he directed me to it.

I like it, and the outer diameter is small enough that you get some space around it for air movement within the side sill. I got mine form summit or Jegs. Go to the borla site, I think they have data on it. All stainless of course.

I was very pleased with the sound, took some of the harshness out for me.

good luck

I use the moroso high flow 3" spirals right by the differential, in addition to the borla xr1 in the side sill. Brought the sound to where I wanted it to be with very little drone.

The Moroso's are very compact.

I dont have a catback...my car has been converted to side-exit straight pipe off the header. (Its LOOOOUUUD!)

Probably will try the Borlas, since I had borla headers and exhaust on the black acr and liked that sound.

Hmm.. ask xstorq about borla.. I seem to recall he had a really bad drone from them.
