My AC airbox ***** hot air off the header after heat from the header melted through the airbox. Does anyone else have this problem and is there a good solution?

Ouch! I take it you weren't using the OEM heat shields.. Can't you wrap some aluminum around the burnt area of the airbox and sheetmetal screw it in?

Coated headers will still burn the box.First time I drove after headers I placed my hand in the box and burnt my hand.Solution:I applied thermotec self sticking aluminized/fg backed shielding. Can cut sheets to size.Hard to work with.Looks ugly.Tends to lift and you can tack back down with 3M super weatherstrip adhesive.Applied to blower motor housing and everything else that faced the headers.ALSO I always keep air flowing through the box.No problems after a couple of years.Bought the stuff through JEG's Bruce

I had this problem. I took off the top portion and replaced the bottom part of the box. I made a heat shield out of heat treated aluminum and spaced it out about 1/2 an inch before mounting it to the bottom inside and side of the box.IT WORKED great, cost about $30.00 total and took about 2 hours. BONUS......still get the look of seeing the headers. Hope this helped.
