My First Viper Test Drive... I think I\'ve got the bug

Well yesterday was my first test drive. I started looking for a 1st gen last week, but another Viper owner didn't let me test drive (what's up with that?) and only let me sit as a passenger while he drove. But this time the owner offered to let me drive. It was a great feeling being in command of an RT/10. It is definately more crammed in the driver's seat than a Stealth, but still had plenty of leg room for being 6'2", I actually had to scoot the seat up one knotch.

The power was nice and the torque is definately noticable. I could tell it wasn't as fast as my Twin Turbo Stealth, but that was a high 11 second car. It is scary how easily traction can be lost in first or second gear, being that I'm used to the AWD point and punch-it stability. But I think I'm still hooked. I really liked the open air feeling and was amazed at how much difference the sunshades make in detering wind. I definately feel like I can't go back to anything else. I test drove a 420HP 300ZX an hour before and it just didn't compare to the feeling of the Viper. I've driven Corvettes before and I feel they are too ***** for me.

...I think I've got the bug.

Won't be long now folks. The feeling you have now will NOT go away, it will haunt you until you give in to the serpents charm. May as well get it over with!

You can survive a bug, but once you get BIT, its all over except writing the check for your very own Snake

That Viper must have only been running on 8 cyl's instead of 10 if you think it wasn't as fast as your Stealth!! I owned a 92 Twin Turbo Stealth that I bought new. In 94 I purchased a 94 R/T10 Viper. I sold the Stealth! There was no comparison!! Make sure the Viper is tuned properly, you will see and FEEL the difference!

That Viper must have only been running on 8 cyl's instead of 10 if you think it wasn't as fast as your Stealth!! I owned a 92 Twin Turbo Stealth that I bought new. In 94 I purchased a 94 R/T10 Viper. I sold the Stealth! There was no comparison!! Make sure the Viper is tuned properly, you will see and FEEL the difference!

No, the viper was running fine, less than 3k miles. I test drove another one today and it felt the same. This time I brought a friend and he also got to drive it, and he agreed that although the torque of the Viper is impressive, it did not quite have the same kick in the pants that my Stealth had, although the Viper's power was still impressive. My 92' TT had nearly 500HP compared to the 400HP of a stock first gen Viper and I've raced SRT/10's and came dead even in the past. Like I said, it was an 11 second Stealth with major turbo and fuel mods, nothing that I've driven has yet surpassed the power of my old TT, but nothing quite feels like a Viper either. I still feel the Viper is an upgrade to my Stealth simply because of it's rarity, potential, and looks. But the Stealth was much easier to handle even at 500HP because of AWD and AWS.

But I don't care about luxuries, the purity of the 1st Gen Viper has really got me hooked. The only thing I can say is the sound of the stock exhaust is kind of weak. But I also went to see another Viper with a Borla today and got to hear it and it sounded much better. How much does the Borla upgrade run these days?

Well Add a Twin Turbo Set to the Viper and you will get up to 1000 Ponies and more.
