Nice plates. A heck of a lot nicer than what we are offered in NY & NJ. That number doesn't stand for anything right? I figured I would be the idiot to ask. ;)

Thanks, the plate is not our "standard" plate. It is called a "Bay Plate." You have to pay extra for it. The money goes to helping keep the Chesapeake Bay clean. If the bay is not kept clean you could not have Maryland crab cakes! By the way, for any people trying to visualize a particular plate for your state look at this link.

ACME License Maker

It is a GREAT site!

Jeremy - Cool for the trekies I guess. Glad you got what you wanted. For me and the rest of the other 99% of the planet it probably say's the same thing though...........1701-D on a Maryland plate. I would assume it as just part of their numbering system had you not pointed out the significance to it. Although I still do not know what that is. But glad your happy with it anyway.

Fast Too - That's actually the point. I want it to be 1701-D to 99% of the people out there. I want that 1% to say "cool, it's the Enterprise." I know, I'm a dork. I'm okay with that.:)

Sorry, would not have guessed it. Dont have google on the road, either. I watch Star Trek as well. After you told me, I got it, but would not have without the help.

I have to agree with this. And who wouldn't recognize that plate right away? ;)
