WASHINGTON (AP) - The Supreme Court has cleared the way for Chrysler's sale to Fiat, turning down a last-ditch bid by opponents of the deal.
The court said late Tuesday it had rejected a plea to block the sale of most of Chrysler's assets to the Italian automaker. Chrysler, Fiat and the Obama administration had warned that the high court's intervention could have scuttled the sale. A federal appeals court in New York had earlier approved the sale, but gave opponents until Monday afternoon to try to get the Supreme Court to intervene. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg ordered a temporary delay just before a 4 p.m. deadline on Monday.
Now the court has freed the automakers to complete their deal.

Yes. Do you think we can fit a Viper engine in one of those little Fiat cars? LOL.

Knowing what I know now, I would be jumping for joy if the Japanese bought Chrysler. I'm as pro American as it gets, it's really a sad day.

May not like the looks of the new GT-R, but the car gets super high ratings for performance. I think I would have preferred if Nissan (lacks funding) bought Chrysler. Not sure about Fiat, especially with other very high end cars being out of Italy...I worry a bit about nationalistic tendencies....why would they want to see an American built high end performance car like the Viper still compete with the likes of Ferrari, Lambo, etc....when they actually now can do something about it....a la, keep your friends close, but keep your enemy closer. How better then to control the strategy over Viper's future.

The sale of Dodge to fiat and how it was done, proves we are moving to a totalitarian state.
We knew that already. The only thing that can save us now is for all the Socialists that voted for Obama to get fed up with their tax bill before 2012. And the Republicans also have to come up with a viable candidate which we lack at the moment.

This is disastrous news. With Fiat owning Chrysler and Ferrari, I am certain that their first order of business will be to wipe out the car that has been ***** slapping those femme ferraris for the last 10 years.

Don't kid yourself; Gingrich would bury Obama in a debate. The problem is that Bush decimated the republican party.

moderate republican = uncommitted hippie

Mcain is as "moderate" as it gets... remember how the liberal press loved him when he ran against more conservative candidates? When conservative ACT like conservatives... they'll get elected. If you stand in the middle of the road, you'll get hit by both sides of the traffic.

Mccain is a war hero, but a political idiot... he lost me at keating5, but to think obama is anything but a socialist in disguise is just intellectually dishonest. Even all the hippies I know are having second thoughts.... too little too late.

And yes... I watch Fox... and CNN...and MSNBC... trust none of them, although Fox seems to be the only one that cares to bring out both sides... which somehow gets called "extreme right-wing" by the other losers in the ratings game. :dunno:

Maybe you should get your news from more than just Al Franken's @$$.

And anyone who thinks Obama inherited a poor economy needs to recall that the house of cards was built on Clinton's watch. Dow 12,000, Nasdaq 5,000, everyone thinking they could afford $1m luxury condos, and banks stupid enough to loan people the money to buy them, was all done under Slick *****. The markets began to crack in 2000 and the economy has suffered ever since. Voodoo accounting was exposed at Enron, CEO's were arrested for playing with shareholder money (Tyco) and plenty of other top companies had financial statements that weren't worth the paper they were printed on. So, who really destroyed the economy?

Oh, and now, we're going to get ourselves out of this mess by printing so much money that nobody wants to buy the Treasury bills to take on the debt. As a result, the govt has to lower the prices and jack up the rates to make them attractive, and even then, weak demand for our debt. So, the brainiacs in Washington have now empowered the Fed to buy Treasury bills itself so they can take them off the market, constrict supply, and artificially inflate demand again. Wow, we're in trouble!

Well, at least you have the guts to admit you voted for this mess. I guess you consider yourself a moderate republican because you voted for Ahnold. Oh, and by the way, Obama did not inherit the worst financial crisis in 80 years. He inherited the worst financial crisis in 15 years and has turned it into the worst financial crisis in 80 years. The sad thing is that he is continuing, and may soon turn it into the worst crisis in finance and liberty in our country's history.

I hope you are happy with the change you voted for, a great many of us are pretty much fed up with all his crap. We conservatives may be only a sizable minority of the country's population, but we probably constitute a majority of the income tax paid. You will miss us when we don't pay it any more.

Wow ... and I' worried because my bank is only paying .25% on special account savings.

Obviously since there's no value i good old cash money there must be more government money than Banks can lend out.

Credit Cards are charging as much as 23% interest and cash is worth nothing?

What kind of fake economic collapse is this? A real economic shortfal is when cash talks.

Oh ledfoot, get a life. So I don't worry about an exact year count. Whether it is 15 or 20 years matters not to me, hell make it 30 and take it back to 1979 if you want. The reality is that the messiah took a bad situation and is making it worse. The reality is that the democrats and the media did their best to talk us into worse financial problems, possible because so much of the US economy is consumer based. In the Bush years a 5.5% unemployment rate was presented as being just plain terrible. Funny how that same 5.5% rate was a "strong" economy under Clinton, and now 9.4% under the messiah is considered evidence of a recovering economy!! The messiah's domestic policies are going to give the market a short-term boost, because Americans in general are optimistic and gullible, and he is pumping a ton of money we don't have into it. In the longer term his policies are going to result in rampant inflation and a severe recession or depression. He can make campaign speeches all he wants, but the rules of business eventually apply. Have you noticed how domestic investment by businesses has dried up? Sane business owners are going to be tentative on investments in this environment. Contrary to media reports, there is a lot of money out there available. The banks may be stretched thin, but there is a lot of private equity capital available, just nothing to spend it on because most are suspicious of the future.

Two questions for you; Why are you so scared of Sarah Palin, and do you know if they are selling political risk insurance for the USA yet???

And one final thought for you Kalifornians, been paying any attention to the states in the biggest trouble??? Seems to be dominated by the blue states, with the red right-to-work states hanging in there stronger..... Of course, your messiah is going to do his best to redistribute that wealth from our states to yours, make it all fair you know....
