Hey V10, how long did it take to change them? How difficult was it?
Thanks,
Cal
it was such a joke it wasn't even funny. maybe took about an hour to do all 3 mounts. that's it! tator gave me some tips about doing it which come in handy. we removed the nuts on the 2 motor mounts first, then used a pole jack to lift the motor up out of the cradle about 4-6 inches. here is where tators tips come in handy. 1. make sure your hood is open (seems common sense but if its shut you will F#@& your hood up when you start lifting the motor up, and 2. disconnect your airtubes (smooth tubes)from the air box side cause if not they will pull off when you start proping the motor up. you may have to rock the motor a little with a pry bar to get it to sit firmly back into its cradle but we didnt have to do this. got lucky i guess?
but its was as easy as changing your oil if you have the tools guys, ie. lift and pole jack/support. after driving the car repaired i can seriously say that there is such a noticable difference in the tightness of the cars powertrain now that i have not noticed since the car was brand new. this mount must have been shot for some time. you can visually check the mounts if the car is on a lift to see what shape they are in but i think it is tough to really say unless you remove them, its a little tight in there. but i can tell you if your car is 96,97,98,99 and i dont care what your miles are, and you havent done mounts ever. the rubber is trashed on the old stockers period. could you imagine driving on the original michelins that came with your older gen2 even if they had great tread left. NO, they would be to dried up to give you any traction. same senario here.
