New Project

Well it's been a long winter and I decided I needed to make yet another viper related plaque.Driving season is a long way off here,so it's the perfect time to make some thing new.I took a piece of aluminum and machined a pocket the shape of the fangs logo.
The pocket is about .030 deep.I used a .09 ball endmill to get a nice radius on the edges of the shape.The machined lines in it kind of gave it a unique look.

When I made the pocket,I programmed it to go around .02 in after every pass.That way the bottom is smooth from such small increments of machining passes.Took a bit of time,but I am satisfied with the out come.

I then used a palm sander with 120 grit to polish the face.Takes the machine marks out of it while giving it a some what satin finish.

I don't make them to sell.Besides with low quantity and material costs and machining,I don't think it would be cost effective.
Plus it's against house rules!

I just fill my house with viper trinkets.

At it again.I winged out another pete today and made a stand for it.Working with wood is so easy.Machined a piece of pine,stained it and it's ready to go.Now those bad boys are ready for display.
