No cats, no mufflers?

I have the borla exhaust and hennessey headers. I took out my cats too. Unfortunately, at certain throttle positions I feel the car sounds more like one of those hondas with the 5 inch muffler rather than a car with balls. I was going to remove the mufflers and run straight pipes. any of you guys ever done this - or should I say is there enough back pressure for the engine if I do this? Plus since I have no cats the check engine light goes on - I was wondering if any body else has this problem and what they did to deal with it.

go with a MOPAR ECU (I gained HP) to kill the light and get the power effects adjustable mufflers from JonB at Partsrack....my 00 can go from wide open raspy to oem quiet in six clicks....I really like it and I have no cats and no muffs and a very un-warm cockpit to boot....wide open I am much closer to a NASCAR sound than a piece of rice being tortured...
