Today, I took a business trip which covered 182 miles, about 90% of which were on the interstate at 80 MPH. When I gassed up, it took 8.7 gallons to top it off. Don't waste your time with a calculator, I'll tell you it's about 21 miles/gallon. First question...............Why was my Viper subjected to the gas guzzler tax when my '04 Hemi truck does well to get 15 miles/gallon?????

Second question..............For those fellow members who've installed 355 gears, what price have you paid in gas mileage and accelerated engine wear? I know it feels like another 100 horsepower, but what's the price. There's no free lunch.

I know I'm going to get blasted for this one; it's like heresy!!!!!!!!

Regards.............

Don

I saw my mileage dip about 2 mpg on the highway when I upgraded to 3.55's. As Makara says, trucks are not subject to gas guzzler tax.

With some careful interstate driving (in Nebraska on a road that is flat as a pancake) I've actually seen 23mpg. That 6th gear is actually good for something, I guess.
