The volume knob on the OEM radio installed in my 2006 is barely working now. Not sure what happened since I barely use it.

When I go to change the volume, it barely will go up/down even though I spin the knob

Is this a known problem with this model of radio (the disk changer version) and any suggested fixes?

Thanks in advance.

That's a common radio used in many Chrysler products (mini-vans, trucks etc.). Can get one from your local pick-a-part, eBay.

Part number 05091507AE.

Thank You. Is it a direct swap or are there any anti-theft considerations I need to account for with the replacement unit?

Is this better than say switching it out for the navigation unit that was an option available during the '06 model year?

Thank You

Navigation updates will be limited to whatever year Dodge last supported it too. So just use it as a radio.

People have updated their units to more recent tech. Check book of faces has someone just posted a replacement model a couple of days ago.

I put an RB1 Nav radio in my car to replace an aftermarket unit. I find it pretty good as a radio, plus I bought a Grom Audio kit that simulates a CD changer so you can do Bluetooth or music on a USB drive to make it a little more modern (https://gromaudio.com/store/usb_ada...droid-iphone-car-integration-adapter-kit.html).

As Goggles said though, it's mediocre at best when it comes to being an actual nav unit. Main issue is it requires a DVD disc with maps to be used. There are clone discs out there, but I've had very mixed results with them and OEM discs tend to go fairly expensive. It's possible it could just be a head unit cleaning/aligning thing as it used to work fairly well for me, but lately I can barely get it to read the disc at all to start nav, so not great. It does give you a nice little screen for stuff like the clock and radio station though, so it at least looks a little more modern than the old VFD or whatever style display.
