Well, my car was finally delivered by Gary Almond to my house near Pittsburgh, PA. I was supposed to be there for the thrill of my first Viper delivery, but my girlfriend dropped me off at the United terminal @ LAX when I was to fly US AIR. So, until I get home around the first of May, the pictures will have to suffice. I purchased the 2001 Sapphire/Cognac RT from Nelson for 71,650 without tax. I know, I paid too much. I was the one guy who looked for the perfect car for 5 months and could never live with any slight imperfection.

The car was from the Nelson Collection and was the second sold from a total of 20. If you’re interested, these guys do not negotiate price. They would not budge even $20 bucks and I had to basically resort to searching for every penny in the couch and under the seats to pay for the car. They are somewhat friendly; however returning your phone calls is not a priority. My only compliant was they scratched the rear valence trying to shoehorn to fit an oversized Dealer license plate. What can I say, the buying experience was average.

The agony of missing my trip and the scratch from the dealer plate was superseded by the exceptional coordinating and transport service that Gary Almond provided. Gary took the time and documented the whole trip with extensive digital photos and updates via phone every few hours. He extensively examined the car and noted minor imperfections to management in which Nelson quickly addressed. He was very patient and polite when he had to wait 7 hours while I frantically searched for ways to wire funds on a Saturday from So Cal. Gary was so meticulous with the car that he went to the extent of actually rigging a tarp, in the poring rain, on top my parent’s garage so the car was free of even a single raindrop. I am not one to go on and on, but for the first time in my life, someone exceeded my excessively high expectations. I can assure, his service is the only option for anyone that values their investment and is in need of transport services.

So, until I actually get to see the car in person (I have yet to see a sapphire blue car or cognac interior), the pics will have to suffice.

Take care all.

Danny

If you sell your car tomorrow, then it was costly. But if you keep this car for quite a while, then the premium will seem inconsequential. Plus you were looking for something near perfect, which was going to be very hard to find. Congratulations, you are going to love it.

Looks nice and new, now go on a drive it and add some imperfections to it! Unless you are not planning on driving it, that would be sad indeed.

Welcome and enjoy.

Gary is top notch! Don't you love how he monitors your car while it's in the trailer?? His setup is cool as hell!

another fellow sapphire owner, congrats. By the way, glad you posted the pics on the trailer, I'm taking mine to Denver for the first time and couldnt quite remember the setup. I did read about the standard tow guides and found them (front and rear) yesterday.

The shear excitement of driving it around and having everyone look at you and gauk will offset the price.

Danny,

Thanks so much for the kind words and excellent endorsement! You really have one of the finest specimens of a Viper I've ever seen. With only 30 miles on the car it doesn't get any newer than that! And the color combo is incredible!

Thanks also to your family for the great hospitality they extended. You're a very fortunate person to have family like that.

I look forward to meeting you in a couple of weeks!

CONGRATS! Nice color combo. Let us know what you think of the car when you drive it.

As for price, yeah it is a little high but if that is what you wanted to pay that is your choice. It is a nice car either way!!!!!
