Polk db650 door speakers

Have been discontinued...their replacements db651 do not fit without drilling holes in the speaker..just fyi

Did you get the standard DB651 or the DB651S (shallow)? It looks like the tweeter portion on the 651 sticks up above the level of the speaker and I wasnt sure if the stock speaker cover would clear. Not sure if I want to keep the stock look or use the DB651 speaker cover?

So hear is the deal... i had the same concern as u... so i called polk and they said the db651 would fit the same as the 650 and that the tweeter would not stick out further than the 650... WELL i got the speakers and so far the polk people have been full of s..t. the 651 has no 3 holes just a 4 pattern ( there is and adapter kit but the hole in the viper door is not big enough) AND the tweeter does stick out so i'm not sure if the stock cover will fit....I'm pretty sure the polk cover is not gonna fit... it doesn't have 3 pattern holes for starters

i don't have my 08 yet i was just planning ahead

I had the db650s but they are 2-way with a built-in tweeter -- no good, too much on the highs. The Viper is designed for a component system with seperate tweeters, so I went with the db6500s (and discarded the supplied additional tweeters). Better.

The db6500 were 2" deep. I wonder if the more expensive MMC6500s will work (Polk/MOMO)? They have the correct 3-screw pattern, but they are 2.5" deep. Anybody know if they fit?
