I know what you mean about these things. I cringe at the thought of the added weight, not to mention the expense of the power top, but not at the function of it, as it'snice to see how they operate. They can be very complex, as some of them have up to seven electric motors in them. It is kind of neat to be at a traffic light, and push a button, and in twenty seconds the top is up or down. As far as a light in the trunk, well no weight or cost to speak of, last forever, and they are nice if you use the trunk often. My take on the many options a car can have is: function, cost, reliability, and weight increase since that's very important on these cars. There are many options that I wouldn't mind on the Viper. Power seats, and top are off that list, not because they are not very good options, but they are very heavy, costly, and problematic. If I traveled on the highway often, I would not mind cruise control, can't keep it under 80 but I don't travel in the car, so I'm happy without it. I simple light under the hood, it's cheap, light weight, and handy, shows off the motor at night, I'm a buyer.

If it's practical, ok then. Haven't heard any complaints about the power windows on the car. Those zip up plastic windows on the old RT-10 were not much fun.

but,I do see your point, hope you see mine.

I am amazed how Viper owners turn away anything that even seems some what practical. Everytime I mention how I would appreciate a garage door button on the rear view mirror, everyone scoffs. Like I enjoy having a garage remote flying around my car. Ya, lets put the genie remote in the cup holder, that would be cool. I am not asking for vibrating seats for god sake, but some of these conveniences are very practical and make allot of sense. A light in the trunk is practical. It does not say "I should own a Jag", if all I want to do is see in my trunk at night. Do you really think if Dodge put in a trunk light, it would make other exotic cars owners laugh at us. Do you think if someone open the trunk and a light came on they would run thinking this might be a BMW and not a Viper. Please, it's just common sense. With many Viper owners way of thinking, we should have a towel in our car so when it rains we can put our hands out the window and wipe the rain. Should such a car come with those stupid things called window wipers? A light in the hood would be nice as well. I personally like showing my engine off. Not so easy at night. I don't think anyone would laugh when I open my hood and a light came on. I could go on and on, but I think the Viper could use a few refinements. Nothing would make me change my mind from buying one without some nice amenities, but I would not buy one because it had them either.

My thoughts..

P.S. Why would you want a trunk carpet kit and floor mats? In You last post you wanted these items. Wouldn't you call these comfort features of a BMW or Jag?
