Re: PVO looking for input on the \"starter button\" name

Joseph Houss,

Very nice. Any way you can move the lettering down some, so it is inside Fang's mouth?

Thanks....

P.S. - I really like the idea of the eyes lighting up when your holding in the start button. Maybe they could stay lit for a few second after the car is started, like the dummy lights. It would probably get annoying if they stayed lit. In my best Beavis, "Yeah, Yeah... That would be cool...."

Re: PVO looking for input on the \"starter button\" name

The problem with moving it down would be that the font would get that much smaller. Remember, this is on a very small button.

I think the light up eyes could probably be done if it is just a calculator battery stuffed right below the exterior graphic. You'd need two led's and ****!

There's actually a "ET finger" inside boxes of some kids cereal that has the same device! I've got to steal it from my four year old and see what makes it tick!

Keep it simple and to one word:

Ignite

Launch

Afterburner

I also like the embossed Viper logo idea

Re: PVO looking for input on the \"starter button\" name

I have taken some of these ideas and modified them a little. This may be too complicated/difficult for production but I like it.

Take Joe's idea with the FANG logo and the word "start", but make all of the letters the same size. Before ignititon the letters are all lit up "S T A R T", after depressing the button the engine fires and now the two eyes light up and the "T" and the "A" turn off so the only letters remaining lit are now the "S R T". maybe the horizontal portion of the "A" can remain lit so it will lokk like a dash "S - R T" Since the "A" has such a wide base and the "T" is thin the spacing may work out so the dash looks centered properly between the "S" and the "R". Have I lost everyone?????

In summary before ignition START, after ignition S-RT with eyes glowing.

Got to admit that I love the word "Showtime" under the starter button. Whoever came up with that...good job!

Re: PVO looking for input on the \"starter button\" name

Joe H.,

Awesome!!!! Although, I was mentally envisioning the vertical slits ^ ^ as the eyes. These slits could be made out of red see-through glass/plastic (Like brake light coloring), then when you start the car the eyes glow red. Does this makes sense? Probably really hard to emulate in photoshop, or whatever.... Anyway, I think poisonous snakes have slits, and non-ominous are round. Or is it he other way around???

Thanks Jerry!

I don't know if the "light up" part is possible, at least from a manufacturing standpoint, it might be a bit late.

If anyone can get this task completed - it's you!

If it's to late for Dodge - I'm sure there will be an aftermarket button with light-up eyes on the market before the cars hit the streets.

Re: PVO looking for input on the \"starter button\" name

I was the first person to reply to this thread after Jay posted it. I said I thought "START" was a pretty good name for the starter button. (however, I do like Joe H's flashing eyes deal)

Then, I said I believed the bigger issue was that they needed help with body styling more than naming a starter button.

Hey - somebody keeps editing my post!!!!!

This is the reason I was confused and asked if this thread was serious. It seems like such a "cutesy" issue compared to all the SRT styling controversy stirred up on this board. Why would they ask us? Still don't get it.

Re: PVO looking for input on the \"starter button\" name

They asked us because they can. After the SAE dinner in Detroit, the topic came up in casual conversation. At this time PVO feels that if they see something that they like, and can get past legal, then why not? This is not a life altering question, but rather trying to tap into all of the opinionated people we have in this group. The odds are that one of these suggestions may get taken seriously.

Enough is enough - just leave it plain red.

No more class than that.

Re: PVO looking for input on the \"starter button\" name

Joe;

Your version is IT!

It's got class, design, and bells and whistles. The flashing eyes are just TOO cool!

I gladly offer to pay a price increase of $50.00 if you can get your design excepted. One caveat; The eyes just gotta flash GREEN... ok RED. They need to flash when you insert the key, then STAY LIT for the full effect!

You can make it happen, Joe.

Do that Voodoo that you do...so well!

Re: PVO looking for input on the \"starter button\" name

Hi Joe

What happened to the "Fangs" start button for the SRT-10 ??? Any aftermarketer's working on a replacement like this ???

It's too good an idea to let die!

Thanks for the SRT-10 support.

Re: PVO looking for input on the \"starter button\" name

That's a good question! Is any vendor up to the task? I bet you can have a "blinky fangs StaRT button" manufactured that could slip right over the existing one, with a small thin calculator battery powering its' eyes!!!!!

How 'bout it guys?

Re: PVO looking for input on the \"starter button\" name

Good idea, but I think it needs to be more definitive. Maybe we should just use block print and have it entered on it to read, " The Red Button." For you
old guys, this is not to be confused with Red Buttons. Have a nice day.

Re: PVO looking for input on the \"starter button\" name

Why didn't they put fang on it? Cuz it can turn upside down and I"m sure Disney would sue Dodge when they realize that Daffy Duck is being used to start the car
