I just had my B&B's installed last week and ever since I have been getting a good bit of exhaust fumes inside the cabin of the car. I know it's coming from the headers because I can smell it when I lift the hood. I have put about 100 miles on it since they were installed and i've checked for black soot marks where there could be leaks and I can't hear or feel any leaks, but there must be some exhaust vapor escaping because I can smell it. Has anyone else had this problem with a slip fit type header? What is a good fix short of taking them off and getting new ones or going back to stock?

You have a leak, but I have heard that the GTSs have a problem of drawing fumes into the car from the rear. Did you take off the cats? It could be the gas smell everybody talks about. I think it had to do with a seap of the fumes while driving coming from the rear. Not sure where, but good luck.

I did remove the cats and I realize there is going to be an odor associated with that. In fact It stinks up the garage when I back it in, but the gas i'm smelling is evident in the engine bay immediately after the motor is started. There hasn't been time for the fumes from the rear to get to the engine. The fumes are drawn in when the window is down and a vacuum is created that pulls some contaminated air from the engine up around the shifter area. I'm sure the vapor is coming from the collector area, but I don't know what to do about it to seal it off. B&B has offered to pay shipping to have them returned to them and they will check the fit and fix them if needed and then send them back, but I'd like to avoid this if possible. Keep posting suggestions guys

I don't think it has to do anything with your headers. If you took off your cats, it could be seeping through the rear fascia vents by the hatch. Mine did it for a bit and it stopped some how, but my eye would water in standstill traffic at one time. I just have people behind me choke to death in traffic.

I've got B&B headers with Jet Hot coating, no cats, and B&B exhaust. I've never had any problems with fumes or exhaust odors. You might want to get your hands on a carbon monoxide detector to be sure you're not being exposed. CO can be real bad, as in dead. Good luck.

I have Hennesseey headers - which are very similar to the B&B headers - slip fit into burns collectors.

I had the same problem - you indeed have a leak coming from the collector. You need to check to see if one header tube has slipped slightly out. You should see some black soot where the leak is. It will typically be the lower center tube.

You may need to slightly "flair" or open one or more of the header pipes to tighten the fit.

Best of luck.

I had the same problem with mine (self installation) for the first 20miles or so I had some bad fumes coming but few more miles should fix this, but I still hear some leaks here and there heard carbon should seal them, also rattling sound from the collators too don’t know if this is normal or a leak
