\"Race Car\" smell?

Whenever I really drop the hammer on my '98 GTS, I get what I always think of as the "race car smell". It's kind of a mixture of lubricant, sulfur, and ozone. Not an unpleasant smell, really, but it occured to me that I should possibly be concerned that this might indicate a problem? The car's always done this; haven't started seeing pink elephants or anything yet. Does anyone else get this, or is normal? If not, can I get some pointers on what could be causing it?

You sure you're not smelling the cats? Just get on it a little and you get that hot cat odor almost immediately.

Most race cars I've been around smell like a combo of gear oil, brake fluid and fuel.

It's not a really strong sulphur smell, more of a hint of acridity in the smell. I had the same smell in my Lotus, come to think of it: smells like Victory. Anyway, I'm leaning towards the burning clutch theory - is this something that I should worry about, or is it a symptom of normal high-horsepower clutch wear?
