The South Central Texas Viper Club (SCTV) informed members a short time ago that the deadline for nominating individuals for open Officer positions was extended until December 31, 2009. The purpose of this note is to inform you that the deadline has been extended until January 31, 2010.
Currently, about 2/3 of the SCTVC membership resides outside of the loosely defined Austin area. For simplicity, we’ll identify those members outside of the Austin area as those living north and those living south. During the past years, most of the Club events centered around activities in the Austin area. A major goal of the (reorganized) SCTVC is to solicit the involvement of members in those areas outside of the Austin area; with increased involvement will come a better understanding of the type/location of events those members want their Club to organize. Nearly all of the event planning in the past years has been done by 2-3 people…hardly enough people, I’m sure you agree. Here’s what we’d like to propose—let’s organize a couple of meetings sometime in January (one north in a location and time TBD) and one south (maybe in the San Antonio area—again, location and time TBD). Ryan Fox and Mike Cole will help to organize those meetings. The plan is to hold an informal session in each meeting location to solicit important and needed input from members and to get a representative or two from each area to volunteer a little time and effort either as an Officer or Director of the SCTVC. Volunteers can be VCA members or spouses of members. As members of the VCA, about ½ of your annual dues is returned to the local Viper Club…it’s important that you have a say in how those monies are spent.
