Picture of our Viper (cleaned up by Kyle at RomarRacing after driving it in snow/salt) and Kyle's Viper Truck...all nicely cleaned up!! Kyle will do a 'fine-tune' this weekend...good time to get this done, winter/can't drive it anyway. Anxious to see final dyno results. We had not had a chance to get it fine-tuned...Kyle was kind enough to send me the pics today, showing he'd cleaned up our black Viper that was gray when we dropped 'er off!
Thank You, Kyle~~~! :2tu: ~juli

This is the only place I'll take Vipers to be Dyno'd! We're working on a Dyno day at Romar's!:2tu:
Great people!

We wouldn't have known about Kyle/Romar if not for you, Chuck! We look forward to the dyno-day!! Yes, GREAT people! :2tu::headbang: ~juli

Re: Viper at RomarRacing!!

Yep nothing like a BLACK Viper...lol...ALL Vipers are great. Thank you co-nos, but the weather is to be cold and snowy again when we pick the Viper up (2 hours away), so no, it won't be able to be driven like it's meant to...:(...but it's okay, it's the BEST time to get 'er done, winter when we can't drive it anyway. Driving it home will be also kind of a 'break-in' from the fine-tune...we'll take 'er easy for now...too cold out to do otherwise.
Drat...juli

My favorite part about going to Romar racing is all the Porsches you come across out that way:D....but then again, there are State Troopers all over the place out that way too.:(
So kick ass real quick:headbang:...then go back to Driving Miss Daisy!:drive:

LOL!!! What WE noticed were TONS of SRT-8 300C's ALL over the place there...must be lots of Chrysler dealers down that way. We didn't see any Porsches. And, YES, to the troopers...RADAR DETECTORS...you didn't hear ME say that....:drive: ~juli
It's a nice drive there for sure...just wish weather was better...drat...

Funny thing is I have not used a radar detector in 20 yrs. That has forced my other senses to sharpen. I can spot a Trooper :drill:miles away by traffic patterns, shape of their cars (Chargers, Intrepids, Ford Explorers, Crown Vics, Dodge Magnums, Caprice Classics, etc). I stopped using detectors when police got the Instant-On capability. I can recognize their headlight pattern at night.
Not to hi-jack yer thread, but I am interested in some of these detectors that claim to jam radar and laser. So far, I have no speeding tickets in my Viper...none.:bigok:
Yeah, that is Westchester County out there, lotta Porsches and Vettes. Few takers thought. I came across one 911 Turbo 07, but as we maneuvered to open traffic we came across a:drill: and the Porsche driver got scared:omg: and chilled. My adrenaline was flowing:drive:and I was ready to rock and roll:headbang:but....no dice. I still love it out that way though!

No worries about hijacking the thread, Keith...we are also interested in another radar/laser detector/jammer...we have been researching and asking people what THEY use. I hear ya on spotting the trooper's cars (my Mom was a dispatcher)...as I can do that as well...know what cars they use, where they could be (as you said, traffic patterns!). It's a very nice ride there, even if most of it IS on the thruway...which is fine, we get there quicker. All my best!!! ~juli

I think many use a Valentine jammer or something like that. I am sure Kyle can help u w/ that, as all those guys out there are drag race junkies!

Yep, that's where we're leaning towards, the Valentine One..anybody know about the Passport 9500I or Beltronics STI? THANX! I don't think the drag racing cars need a detector!!! LOL...but yes, the people themselves for their own cars, as they may '''''forget''''' they are not IN their dragsters!!! LOL....juli

Re: Viper at RomarRacing!!

Car was dyno'ed yesterday (Sat. 2/16)...VEC2 doesn't seem to be working properly. It does some things, and won't do others...but originally we dyno'ed at 425rwhp stock: now it's at 480rwhp/526tq.
Totally liveable. We appreciate all the help Kyle at RomarRacing provided, and we go pick up the car today (before the rain/snows come in later today!) ~juli

So what mods gave you 55 additional rwhp?

Here is a thread that may help you in getting a Radar Detector. Some good info in this one http://forums.viperclub.org/general-viper-discussion/611064-best-radar-detectors.html

Thank you...I added that to 'favorites' for us to go over when we have a chance! :2tu:
OKAY...what I neglected to say was we'd had the Viper tuned AFTER the stock dyno tune.
We have for mods: B&B Ceramic Coated Stepped Headers; Corsa Track Exhaust; Hi-Flo cats (2, took 2 cats out); K&N Air Intake; VECII computer. Dyno in 8/06 resulted in 471rwhp/516tq...2/08 resulted in 483rwhp/527tq. As this was just a 'fine-tune' from the last tune (which was very very hot...no air moving)...gains altogether just this time were low, but acceptable. Problems with the VEC2, it does some things, others it does not.
So, we're content. Kyle is *new* to Viper tuning, so had Joseph Dell help him out by emails/phone...Kyle does a LOT of drag racing cars, so the Viper is a whole new BEAST, he wants to be cautious, which of course is good...he'll get more confidence the more he tunes. So, Viper is home in the freezing rain/sleet...had to go 65...me in the 4x4 ahead of the Viper. Sloppy out! Now with the Vette, we need another radar/laser detector/jammer...so we'll look at that site, thank you kindly~~~~! ~juli

THANX Mary!!! Yeah, mostly thruway driving, and they salt the heck out of it, so that's the safest road around....and the longest drive we have is on that road. Glad we're back, now we can let the BEAST sleep again~~LOL! Hope YOU are having better weather and able to get YOUR cars out there???? :drive::drive: ~juli

Re: Viper at RomarRacing!!

Good thing to have the snake back in its lair all safe and sound!
Will upgrading to the VEC 3 solve any of thei issues w/ the VEC? My only issue w/ my VEC was that Kyle was not in the correct map for n/a motors and could not adjust anything. But Kyle and Joseph are aware of that issue w/ the VECs now. I am sure Sean Roe will assist you in getting the most out of your VEC. I picked up 50 more rwhp once they got my VEC 3 issues resolved. But I thought for Gen 3's the VEC 3 was the correct version..am I mistaken?
