Hey all,

There is a rubbing sound coming from the rear differential clutches in my car around turns, especially of sharp degrees, only when I'm in a drive gear. My dad knows its the limited slip differential gears or clutch or something rubbing, but he asked me to come on this forum to ask for advice on what additive to use to fix it.

He said he is weary of putting Royal Purple in because he has seen it do damage in some cases, unless that is recommended in this case. He also asked if he can use the Chrysler fluids, or if there is anything better out there.

Also, has anyone else ever had this problem?

was there a recent fluid change? if so, I would put money on them forgetting to put in the limited slip additive-would result in exactly what you're describing. If not, has there been any recent "beatings" the diff has endured? (slamming gears, dropping the clutch, burning out, wheel hop... that kind of stuff) If so, it could be actual damage to the spider gears or diff clutch...though this isnt a normal problem on the Viper.

Best bet is to change rear fluid again with new, make sure you add a bottle of additive, and see what happens... then take it from there.
