Resonance with Mopar performance exhaust

My Mopar performance exhaust (came with the car) has a lot of interior resonance at certain speeds/RPMs. I've always had Corsa's in the past (on other cars, vette's, etc.) & never had this problem. I don't really want to go to the trouble & expense of changing to Corsa's since the exhaust sound is GREAT (just what I want), but at times the resonance is very annoying....

Will an "X" or "H" crossover pipe help eliminate any interior resonance ??

Will high flow cats help ? (or do they get too loud?)

Any other ideas ?

I tend to think your answer is X pipe. I doubt that high flow cats will help. I am getting the new borla system with addtional mufflers in the rear to mitigate much of the resonance created by earlier models. I hope it works... I love the sound of the Borla so I'd much rather live with resonance than to go with Corsa :)

You can have a muffler shop put a short crossover just behind the differential for about $50-$100. When doing this with the 4 muffler Borla system it is even quieter than the Corsa at cruise.

sean - at WOT, is the new borla system as loud as the previous version? I hope it still has the deeper tone as the older ones... thanks

3" system as before, with 4 mufflers instead of 2.
It still has the deep muscle car type of sound at idle and full throttle. It's been out for a few months now.

Sean

I just installed the new Borla system this week along with high flow cats from Sean Roe's shop. It was an easy install. Even with cutting off the stock cats... it only took 3 hours working at a leisurely pace. I have not started the car yet so weather permitting...I will take her out and see how she sounds.

I purchased my Borla set up from BTperformance
832-724-3680 They usually have an ad running on ebay.

They had a sale...775.00 and free shipping.

Toby - what did you use the cut the old cats? Did you do this on a lift or with jacks? Also, did you end up using clamps to secure the high flow cats? Thanks again!

An air powered 3 inch cutting wheel...took about 5 minutes a side. All you need is too jack the rear of the car and secure with 2 jack stands for the entire process. High flow cats secured by clamps provided by Roe Racing. They also pre-welded pipes to the cats, cut to length and size.
