Mamba shift knobs are NLA and mine was fairly worn. I found Angelus Fire Red leather paint is an exact color match. It’s easy to use. The steps I used are 1. Clean with acetone 2. Lightly sand with 600 grit to smooth the surface 3. Clean again 4. Apply multiple light coats with sponge brushes (4 for .97 at Walmart) allow to dry for 35-45 minutes between coats. I applied 4 coats 5. Apply several finish coats, I used Satin High Gloss

This was my first experiment with these products. I just wanted to improve the front of the **** where the most wear was visible. I plan to remove the **** and do the whole piece sometime later, but I’m impressed with the ease of this and the finished appearance. No idea how it will wear but it’s so easy that touch ups won’t bother me. This leather paint is used widely on shoes so I’m actually expecting it to hold up well.

How did it hold up?
It still looks as shown, except for a small hole that has worn at the very top edge, but that has nothing to do with the refurbishment or the finishes used. These leather paints seem to be very durable. I’ve driven it about 7500 miles since I did the refresh.
