Rocker sill exaust cover

Can someone give me a comparison between the materials available for aftermarket rocker sill exaust covers. What are the advantages/disadvantages to fiberglass vs. carbon fiber?

Do you think fiberglass is a viable alternative to original material for these? The claim is that their fireproof. But I know there is a heat concern in this area and I'm worried about melting or warping. Fiberglass is considerably cheeper but I don't want it to look bad for the sake of a few bucks either. I have no experience with this and wonder how fiberglass will perform, paintability, etc.

We have sold a large number of Hi-Temp-resin Fibreglass sills.

They are a fraction of the cost of OEM replacements, and are often chosen to rebuild wercks or wreck damage, or build a race car. Hi Flow Exhaust systems are much cooler than OE, and "melting or warping" is not a factor of an OE-insulated fibreglass sill.

Their primary negative is chip-resistance at the wheel wells. You must paint with flex additive, and add chip-guard tape (as OE sills use).

We do take undamaged OE sills as payment, for those converting to Sidepipes for example

After owning an '05, get some underside tape, or clear mask, or something under those sills immediately when you get a new Viper ... I won't make the mistake of waiting again with my '08 when it comes in

Clear mask on the side sills is a great idea, except for the heat problem. I've been told by multiple clear mask installers that the mask will yellow from the heat. But, it is a certainty that the sills need some sort of protection from the stones kicked up by the front tires.

I'm having my side sills repainted because they are so stone chipped. Once that is done, I plan on installing AutoForm side sill extensions. My thought is that the extensions will serve as stone guards. Hope I'm right. Clear mask would be much easier and cheaper, though the heat issue precludes it. I could try one or the other of the aftermarket exhaust systems that folks say reduce side sill heat and then give the clear mask a try, but I'm going with the sill extensions.
