Chrysler dealership could not get me mats. Now I need a rad hose, (upper hose split) and they say there is only one in Canada and they want $155 for a 3' hose! That's with me doing the labour btw! :crazy2:

For that price get some silicone hoses from Sean Roe. :2tu:

Anytime something breaks, that's a great opportunity to upgrade. Why not take advantage?

At one time there was a suggested thread to list parts that were identical which Dodge/Crystler used on other vehicles which they applied a "Viper" tax to when sold under viper part numbers. That thread is still around here somewhere.

Price around which I also do when looking. In most cases there is not one particular place to go for ALL of your parts needs.

Luk clutch (stock) was on ebay for a long time at 185 shipped. I am not a huge fan of eBay buying, however the buy now option is great.

Question about putting the rad hose on ... should I apply any silicone or such like to the inlet pipes on the rad or the block before sliding the hose on?

Is it just as good to use the screw type hose clamps? (those stock clamps that require plyers to open are a pain in tight spaces)!

Do NOT use silicone or anything else. Wipe the inlets with some fine steel wool and clean them with a degreaser (brake clean, acetone, gasoline or whatever..) . Stock clamps do the job, sure it's just as good to use the gear style clamps. Stock clamps are just quicker to assemble at the factory when they build the car..

You're hitting a nerve there.. I've changed clutches from my diesel trucks to my Viper which had a LuK clutch, wasted many hours in my life.. They are crap. I will never replace a clutch with a LuK component.

That's the one.

Luk is the stock clutch if I am not mistaken. I remember when I did my trans and clutch Chuck said that was the stock. Ive had no problems. Didnt mean to strike a nerve.

That's cool, I just finished a clutch job and was still a bit pissy about LuK.. If you knew me, I just laugh about it and move on.. lesson learned & just sharing..
Best regards,
Mike

"only 27 left in stock"

Maybe this is the way it's going to be, only twelve left so $780 ... only 8 left so $1200. Like some rare pieces of art the parts of our cars get so expensive we can't drive any more in case something breaks?

Hopefully, a company like Year One will start making parts for Gen I and II Vipers. It was a nightmare sourcing parts for my 'Cuda 20 years ago. Now it's very easy.

Sounds like a business opportunity...

My brake light was out on the crossbar. I took it apart....what a sh*t - rigged up design. Who thought of such a thing? I expected to see a regular bulb, maybe two that I would screw in or snap in, maybe pick up at some auto parts store. Instead i see this weird strip of two contacts with these crappy little receptacles and these tiny bulbs with prongs that you have to push into these insane contacts. Sorry, this could have been way easier if given any thought. I got them all to work after a half hour of cleaning and re-setting the bulbs.

Time to buy all of the dealer's existing stock and you'll be rich in 20 years when you sell the OE parts.. as you know as well as I do what NOS stuff goes for.. :omg:
