My 97gts has 89k miles. runs great, looks great, and not planning to sell. Recent numbers were 425/475. Any opinions on a s/c on car with this many miles? should that be a concern?

comments appreciated.

Mine is just turning over on 70,000. The s/c has been on for 12,000 or so. If the motor is still strong then I see no reason not to do it......you may want to have the rod bearings looked at or replaced. It's a simple/quick job on a Viper.
Oh yea....at 25k my engine had an Arrow rebuild so it's a little fresher than the total miles.

Put a blower on it ASAP! You won't regret it! :2tu:

If the engine can't handle it, well, then you have an excuse to build it for the blower and add GOBS of power later! :p

Damn! 89K miles and it puts out those kind of numbers! God, I love these cars! I too plan on keeping mine for awhile and am considering a blower. Has your motor been good the whole 89K? Your car should be fine, I would get a compression check and have a reputable Viper tech look over the motor.

Maybe others can chime in on this, should Vinny be concerned about the timing chain or the pushrods?

Vinny,

I have 57k on my 98 GTS and have a Roe system on order. I put down 422/464 on my last dyno. I talked to Sean Roe about the dangers of supercharging a high mileage engine, and he put my mind at ease. He did say that my rings may be getting "tired" based off of my dyno numbers, but that it shouldn't be a problem. If you aren't burning oil, then you should be good to go. I am going with a conservative 6.5 lb pulley just to make sure I don't over-do it. Good luck!

Frank

p.s. - You have the best color combo IMHO. :2tu:

We all have a twisted idea of what is considered high mileage, but in the real world 125K+ is high mileage. Anything less than 100K is just getting broke in :2tu: :2tu:

Thanks everyone for the input. I think I'm going to do some headers and exhaust mods, and see what that does, and then decide on the blower.

What kind of blower? Paxton and Roe both have good systems.
