About how much less do salvaged vipers go for opposed to clean titles?

Better question, how much would one value a 97 coupe w/ damage to front fasica and hood, headlight assembly and radiator (not support)?

70%-85% of full value if fixed right.

If still damaged, figure to pay $11K-$18K under the going price of a comparable undamaged car.
Figure $8000-$12,000 for replacement parts, plus labor.

MM - *If the hood does not need to be replaced* - I have been seeing these cars selling for low-mid $40k. If the hood does need to be replaced the price fluctuates wildly. Seems some people will actually pay more for a demolished heap than one with a few cracks here and there. If you are seriously looking for a salv. then drop me a line and I'll give you my current list.

Salvage titles depend on the state, but with most dealers they are often figured at half the regular value.

Reasons are ;
1. No ext. warranties ever available
2. Most banks will not finance.
3. Resale is always less

This may seem excessive, but many dealers will not accept a salvage title at all, and obviously financing a high ticket item like a Viper could be a problem if it is necessary.

Many Vipers look very fixable, and for those that want to turn them into race cars it is a great way to go - salvage becomes a non-issue in mosts instances.

Yep, a track car.

My father in law has a frame puller, 15 bay garage and a KILLER body man... just hope everything works out

I've seen two Vipers (GTS) recently that had what I would consider pretty minimal damage. Both had salvage titles--one went for $15K, the other for $11K (directly from the insurance company). Both required less than $15K to fix and had similar damage to what you described. The salvage value seems to depend on the insurance company, the body shop estimates to fix, and the influence the owner can exert.

Most of the cars I've seen advertised by liquidators with the kind of damage you describe seem to be in the $30K range.

I also understand that some states won't title salvaged cars, but I don't know this first hand. But if you're looking for a track car, that may not matter.

SC does, my father in laws' entire business is centered around renting, selling and you guessed it.. repairing salvaged cars. my fiancee gets a new car every 6 months, right now she has a 02 grand am w/ a salvage title. Hey.. it's free and she doesn't pay insurance

You also get a tax break if you have a salvaged vehicle (property tax).

Maybe i'll get lucky.

Well if he happens across a d(st)eal please let me know. I'm currently looking at a 94 RT thats right up my price range. Though I've recently seen a total of five clean cars go through autotrader now under $30k so I'm still going to be holding out until the bitter end.

I have to agree with everyone else on this as well. It is rare to find any rebuildable viper for $15K or less. I have a dealers license and have bid on these all over the country. These cars are worth more in parts than that. I am currently buying a 97 GTS with about $10K damage in parts for $18500. Sounds like you have the resources to get one fixed right as long as you buy it knowing its worth 75% of retail when done.

I just can't justify gutting the interior of a low milage GTS, nor spreying a different paint scheme. Some may do it.. but I think it would be sacralige. I figure if I rebuild one, i'm giving it a new soul and a new chance at some road time.. better to be in new skin than none at all!

Since many, many people seem interested in my salvage list I'll just post it here to save trouble. These are the GTS ONLY cars that *might* still be up for sale. Please remember that on most of these cars it will be cheaper to buy NEW than rebuild them. Like Bill said, Unless your devoted or building a racer no wrecked viper will "cheaper" in the long run.

I wonder how the silver coupe got damage on both sides like that?

Too pricy at 55k when you got atleast 5K in new quarters/paint.
