Shelby Series 1

Does the Shelby Series 1 have a root type supercharger in it? I thought it did. Is it like the Roe?

It's a Vortech S/C, but I'm not sure if it's centrifugal or roots.

I have a good friend with one of these rare birds and holly Sh*tt is if fast. The sound is incredible, the styling is great, it looks like it is doing 200 mph just sitting still. The blower is just a plain Vortech off the shelf cent. blower. Actually the old style that you can hear whinning under the hood. ( I liked it). He is a previous Viper owner and still has a soft spot for the Viper but said that he would not trade back after having the Shelby. Hell it is an instant collector. Think of the Value that it will bring if something God forbid ever happen to C/S. $$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!!!!!!

I thought it was a nice car, but I would take the Viper over it hands down. Build quality is that much better than the Viper. But it still looks like a blast to drive. We have one here in town for sale.I just sat in it.

I actually saw one on the track at VIR a few weeks ago.

Appeared to be a very quick car, although I would still go for the Viper.

the top on the car makes the RT/10 soft tops look like NASA technology, when up it looks bad ruins the lines on the car

Just never did it for me, bad quality build, stories abound, it is NOT fast, no matter *** good it sounds. Let me rephrase, it is not fast for an exotic. It is barely fast against a good Cobra. Now a Ford GT.......

Not trying to flame or dispute here but it will out run my almost stock Viper....I have been co-pilot and it will fly. Build quality is so so interior is aweful and the top should never be up that is for sure. Viper top is NASA Tech. compare to that piece of crap that Shelby uses, but the hard top my buddy is having made looks great at least on paper. To make the statement that the car is not fast 2200lbs and 500hp come on now.

The regular Shelby Series 1 is about as fast as the Z06 Corvette, and the supercharged version has about the same acceleration as a lightly modded Gen II, or SRT-10 Viper (1/4 mile in 12.1@ 120MPH).

If the supercharged models were priced the same as the Viper then they would have sold MANY more of them. But despite the nice styling, there is a bit of a kit car look to the cars, and most people don't know what they are, other than a sporty convertible.

Shelby got great performance numbers one the supercharged Shelby Series 2 of 0-60mph in just 3.2 seconds and a standing quarter mile of 11.3 secs at 126mph.
But who knows how much the boost was cranked, and if they used drag radials.

There are rumors of Shelby coming out with a special run of 427 supercharged Series One cars in 2004, but who knows.
