Squeek Behind Seats

I have noticed, being rather tall, that when I have the seat tracked all of the way back that the plastic shield behind the seat squeeks very loudly at every turn and bump.

I tried placing a towel behind the seat and between the plastic, but the squeek seems to be from the plastic rubbing on something on the inside not the seat back itself (The seat back is carpeted anyway).

I search the threads a bit and didn't see anyone else complaining about this.
Has anyone else delt with this noise?
Also can the plastic be removed or is it part of the bass speaker in some way?

Nice I like the mice in the car.

I still have the issue with the squeek, and found that it seems to be the seat pressing the plastic into some metal fitting that the seat belt uses.

To stop the sounds the most, I moved the passenger seat up so that it's not touching the plastic, and then reclined the drivers seat a couple notches and JAMMED the crap out of the seat so it's all the way back into the plastic. This seems to have reduced the rubbing squeek to only show itself occasionally.

I might take a look into pulling the plastic out when the summer comes back around and placing something rubber between the platic and that metal piece.

Thanks for the replies.

Thinking of getting the Battery Tender and Mouse protection, although I plan to drive every chance I get through the Colorado Winter. Over 40 degrees, no snow, not wet and no gravel on the roads, I'm out.

Your profile is all fixed up...just in time to renew for 2010! :D

You can set up your sig and avatar now. Let me know if you have any questions.

Since you are still under warranty take it in and see if they have a remedy for the squeak.

Windshields do not last long in Colorado.:)

You're thinking of the aftermarket synthetic variant. The standard stuff needs to be purged through the wiper sprayer system and replaced every 6 months. If this isn't done, your blinkers will eventually suffer from filament constipation.

That's when you gas up with Phillips in more ways than one right?

Squeak squeak.

On the thread subject I was thinking they may replace the plastic and see if the new one helps you with the sound. Maybe the one you have got pressed the wrong way in moving the seat.

Thanks for all of the suggestions.
I'll take the car in straight way and get the squeek lubricant, replace the blinker fluid, increase the wiper's air pressure, swap out the dry summer air in the tires for winter air (Hate to get a flat in the cold) and have the tech check my muffler bearings.

I was looking to replace the muffler bearings with the better ceramic kind, but I can only find the iron-graphite versions.

Which bearing have been used by the group to get the best deep rumble from the exhaust?:dunno:
