Stereo decision, need help quick!!

Looking for "better that factory" sound. Not interested in spending big $$$ on the stereo. I just ran across a Pioneer DEH-p660 head unit and Alpine 6.5" Sps-170a speakers. Price is good.

Pros / cons. Any help would be appreciated.

Real improvement comes from good bass.
Install a subwoofer in your footwell.
Toss a good amp in your trunk.
Disconnect the speakers between the seats.
I used Kenwood Excellon for all my components, and have a custom molded panel to hide the sub in the passenger footwell.
The car is like a club.
Even without cats and at WOT I can only hear the music. Cristal clear.
I do have some hearing problems now

I have a nice pioneer headunit, Focal 6.5" components up front, and a set of nice Cerwin Vegas in the center. And Yyves is right... without a sub you just can't make the jump to great sound. However, I have tall passengers and need the footwell space, so only so much I can do.
