One thing about Pep Boys, Super Trak and Hi-Gear...don't buy sparkplugs there. The plug manufacturers test and rate the sparkplugs before they are sold. Pep Boys Super Trak and Hi-Gear basically ask for the cheapest plugs available.

Get things like sparkplugs from a jobber shop such as Car Quest, or NAPA. You may want to buy from a dealership though as they have the most stringent requirements to prevent come-backs.

It's true and has been for many years. I did hear of a few manufacturers refusing do to this any more a few years ago but I don't know if that actually happened or not. I found it hard to believe at first too but I've talked to a jobber shop owner and a manager at one of the chains (won't mention which) and they said it was pretty wide-spread.
