I'm going to call this strange at least. The driver's side window was working intermittently. Common culprits are:
-> Window switch
-> Door jamb wiring
-> Motor/regulator assy.
Took the switch off and bench tested all the contacts via the wiring diagram. Worked flawlessly.
Pulled the door panel to check the motor. Put a voltmeter on the wire from the switch and got +12V or -12V every time. The motor would twitch with switch up, and nothing with switch down. Via my hand on the motor to feel this.
Put a battery charger on the motor and it went up and down without fail.
Well, what is left???
Had recently bought a faceplate off ebay that had switches on it. Why not change a switch? It fixed it.
So the strangeness is my old switch worked flawlessly with a meter connected - checks good! - but did basically nothing with the motor connected.
A weak switch.

Update:
Should have been a surgeon. Dissected the switch. One contact shiny, one black. Voltmeter not always good for troubleshooting switches I guess.
