Clearly, stripes versus no stripes, color of stripes, factory original or not...all considerations and all very much personal taste.:omg:

However, that said, I've been considering adding stripes to my 1998 Viper Red RT/10. Though in 98 it was not an option (to my knowledge), I do think they add something to the look of the car.

My problem is, I have not been able to locate pics with different color stripes.:dunno: I did find a few with silver stripes, but I seem to like black (to go with the black interior). I have also seen some red GTS's with white stripes.

Can anyone help and post some pics of red RT/10's with different color stripes?:headbang:

Would be very much appreciated!:2tu:

Thanks.

Peter

Sorry I don't have pics, but prior to taking delivery of my RT/10 from the previous owner, I had him remove the white stripes. Personal preference, like you said, but the only RT/10's that ever came with full stripes were the very rare '97 B/W's.

96 RTs too. The W/Blue stripes and B/silver stripes :2tu:

Thanks for the replies. I do recall there being a black w/silver stripes as well as the B&W. I've never seen a red with factory stripes in any year.:dunno:

The only stripes I've seen that I personally like are silver. As my RT is bone stock, I'm hesitant to make that kind of "non-factory" change in the event at some point I decide to sell. From my experience, a completely stock car brings the greatest value to the widest audience. Though making major mods certainly makes the car more appealing, it ends up being more appealing to a much smaller group who happen to like exactly what was done.:nono:
I'm not saying that I am selling, as that is definitely not my intention...but who knows way off in the future what may happen.:dunno:

Again, thanks to everybody.:2tu:

Try vinyl stripes.
When done right, almost undistinguishable from paint and easily removable.

EXACTLY! I've had silver metallic vinyle stripes for almost 2 1/2 years now and I LOVE them! After having them on for a while now i'm sure I want to paint them eventually, just not in a hurry as the vinyle stripes look great!

Stripes on a RT/10 make the car higher and less wide (square).

NO stripes = car looks very wide and low!

Its hard to see, but the stripes are actually a snakeskin pattern. I get tons of praise on them. They look way better in person (you'll need to trust me on that one).

Yes, yes... I know! The front license plate is ugly.

Mine are (obviously) on a GTS and not an RT/10, but I love my flat black vinyl stripes. :headbang:

More pics in my gallery.

I found some old pics of my RT/10 prior to having the stripes removed. I'm still happy with my decision!

as a future viper buyer I would love any viper with stripes even if it did not come from the factory that way. MHO is that it makes the car look great. Also on mods, I am hoping to find a viper with some mods more than factory stock. mainly because I would end up doing some mods anyways. gears, headers, performance exhaust are all a plus in my book but I know that is just one future buyers opinion.

Well, I kinda like the red with flat black stripes...but again, this is on a GTS and I think it may look a bit different on an RT.

Has anyone seen silver stripes on an RT/10? Thought it doesn't match the black interior (I'm very two color oriented), I did think the GTS I saw with silver stripes looked quite nice.:headbang:

So, what is everyone's opinion on putting stipes on an RT, when they almost never came from the factory that way. Is that kind of like putting purple neon lights under your car?:crazy2:

Thanks.

Simply put, there are stripe guys, and the rest who hate stripes.

If a red RT/10 doesn't say "look at me" enough for you, then do stripes!:1up:

It's YOUR Viper, do what you want with it. Put stripes on. Put black stripes on. I think black stripes will look killer on your red RT/10. If you do vinyl stripes, you can remove them if you don't like them. I did vinyl for that reason but I like them so much I'm having them painted on. I could not find a reputable vinyl installer in CT. Even my body guy whom I've known for 15 years didn't want to work with vinyl. I did the installation myself and I will never do it again. It's a PITA and takes skill especially with the curvy areas, the NACA duct and license plate area. I can send you some left-over vinyl I have, free. I have 100 foot roll of black Avery A4 vinyl I'll never use.

Hey, thanks for the offer.

I'm kind of leaning towards the black. While I love the red on the RT, I do seem to like stripes also. That said, I'm a nut for what is original, especially since this car is totally stock.

Let me think about it....but its a great offer.:headbang::headbang::headbang::headbang:

One question, I have that clear vinyl bra over the front part of the hood. Would I have to remove it to put on vinyl stripes and, if so, is it garbage if it is removed?:dunno:

Hey Tony....just checked out your post "I Got Stiped"...so, did I read correctly that the stripes are 8" and have a 4" separation? Does that mean its really one stripe, 8" Black-4" clear-8" Black? That would account for the stripes being perfectly parallel otherwise you are quite talented!!!:headbang:

Let me know when you get a minute. I agree, that the paint clean with not stripes is beautiful but that you were looking for something extra. I see the red the same, I love it that way, but the stripes might add a little bit more.:2tu:

Appreciate all the info and again, the offer. I can see why better to do vinyl first and live with it for awhile before deciding to paint.:eater:
