I need you to do 3 quick tests for me. (these will set off the alarm on your car so if the neighbors will mind please avoid)

I need to know the number of horn honks at each report step below...

*The most important thing is that your car your car is completely stock as far as the alarm system goes.

---Test 1---

a)ingnition is off
b)hood and trunk are closed & fully latched
c)drivers and passenger's doors are closed
d) all windos are rolled up

2) Open the driver's door

3)Push the drivers lock switch to lock the doors

4)Close the drivers door

5)Report what the horn & lights do when the door is closed

6) Open the lift gate with the key

7)Report what the horn & lights do when the hatch is opened

8) Open the hatch, reach in and open the driver's door with the emergency release

9)Push the drivers lock switch to unlock the doors

10)Report what the horn & lights do when the unlock button is pushed

11) If alarm is still going off - reset alarm system with VTSS Switch (this is in the center console storage compartment insert the key and turn)

Here's a brief description of the 1999 & 2000 Viper "Alarm System Horn Chirp Pattern Indenification" taken from the "Viper Body Electrical Student Workbook" (the "merged edition" as I call it... which features BOTH Gen I and Gen II Vipers through and including the 2000 model year):

"Horn Chirp: Chirps once on pressing fob lock button then arms immediately and dash top LED begins to flash. Flashes park/tail lamps twice on unlock. Chirps three times on unlock if alarm has been active (alarming)) since armed. (This is a tamper alert.) New, more rounded fobs will be introduced as a 1999 model-year running change in approximately July."

Thank you Steve! You have been a great help on this the phone call walk through has helped me to narrow down the operation of the stock unit. now to tie into that for the aftermarket system...
