I agree with the comments in "The best-handling car for more than $30,000". The Viper is a beast, and grips like no other. I agree it's major flaw is a lack of steering feel.

On the other hand, the article "The Best Handling Cars in America" is a mystery. I respect Mario A., but what car was he driving? It could not have been a Viper with a comment like, "The throttle pedal of the Viper GTS-R is like an on/off toggle switch. You either get a massive amount of torque or nothing." ***! That is crazy. There is torque EVERYWHERE in the Viper. He makes other comments which I totally disagree with as well. Every time I read an article that Mario is involved, it seems he has a biased towards certain makes. I don't know why, money maybe, but his comments are sometimes sooooo far from true, it makes you wonder. No, I am not a professional driver, but I do know the Viper. And some of his comments are a mystery.... I noticed the same in other articles of cars he speaks of... No crediability IMHO.

Here's another one:

"The car will dip, squat and lean heavily from side to side, creating a sensation that's like riding a giant wooden roller coaster during a massive earthquake"

Ummmm, OK. The Viper lean? Huh... The Viper has the least body roll of any road-legal production sports car I ever drove. A very stiff chasis. And I have drove others in that test. For example, the NSX leans way more than the Viper, and has way more body roll.

The Viper does have downfalls, as all cars do.. Lack of steering feel and a darty feel at times. But the complaint of on/off torque and body lean/slopiness are down right laughable.

Make no mistake, Mario is all about the MONEY. He has a large Lamborghini collection and was GIVEN FREE Lamborghini's for years from the factory for his participation in the "Running of the Bull's"

Yeah... I've seen him speak on TV a few times, and he seems 'shady', if you know what I mean.

Bottom line: track times don't lie. The Viper and Z06 are tough to beat, AT ANY COST. USA, USA, USA !!!!

In his defense the comment, "The throttle pedal of the Viper GTS-R is like an on/off toggle switch. You either get a massive amount of torque or nothing."

This could imply that if you touch the pedal (on switch) you get massive torque, no matter where you are with the pedal or what gear or what rpm. If you let off the pedal (off switch) torque goes to zero.

Maybe?

Mario has always been biased.........but who cares about his subjective rating???

The test was about best handling.....and the Viper won ALL categories. Best handling means just that...best handling!!

Subjective ratings are not actual performance ratings. Subjective ratings aside, if you ask Mario which car he would chose in an actual competition, he would chose the Viper because he produced the best and the top numbers with it!

So if the test is "best handling", then give it to the car that was the best.......the Viper. The pedal position and all the other whining crap about the car doesn't matter if you can win with it.

Right?
